Eighteen coins — how much silver that is

The rectangular Dragon coin holds one troy ounce of silver at 999.9 fineness. A full case therefore holds eighteen ounces, roughly 560 grams of metal — more than half a kilo bar, but as eighteen separately sellable units.

That is a practical difference: a kilo bar sells as a whole, while coins can be liquidated one at a time, at whatever pace suits.

What to watch for

The case is built for coins in capsules — the cut-outs match the capsule, not the bare coin. Coins without capsules shift in the recesses, which risks scratches on silver.

Keep the case dry and away from rubber and recycled cardboard. Those materials release sulphur compounds, and it is those compounds that cause silver to tarnish.
