A platinum bar of one troy ounce at 999.5 fineness, branded Credit Suisse. Produced by Valcambi. The bar is sealed in an assay card whose number matches the one struck into the metal. The market standard for bullion platinum is 999.5 rather than the 999.9 used for gold. Platinum falls outside the gold bullion exemption, so the price includes 23 percent VAT. Bars under this brand are no longer produced.

Why platinum is 999.5 rather than 999.9
The market standard for bullion platinum is 999.5, not the 999.9 used for gold. The reason is metallurgical: platinum melts above 1700 degrees Celsius, and refining it to higher purities is disproportionately expensive. The market settled on 999.5 as the threshold for wholesale trade.
The reverse is covered with diagonally repeating Credit Suisse logos. The obverse carries the logo with the weight and fineness. Bars under this brand are no longer produced, so availability depends entirely on the secondary market.
Tax on platinum
Platinum falls outside the exemption that covers gold bullion. In Poland the price includes 23 percent VAT — the same as silver and palladium. It is a material difference that is easy to overlook when comparing platinum with gold on the metal quote alone.
Why GoldInvest24
We source from state mints and LBMA-accredited producers, in original packaging. Every shipment is insured and packed discreetly, with no markings indicating the contents. We also run a gold and silver buyback. Current quotes are on our gold price page.
Frequently asked questions
Why is platinum 999.5 fine?
It is the market standard for bullion platinum. Platinum melts above 1700 degrees Celsius and refining it to higher purities is disproportionately expensive.
Is VAT charged on platinum?
Yes, 23 percent in Poland. The Article 122 exemption covers gold bullion only. Platinum, palladium and silver are taxed.
Are these bars still produced?
No. Bars branded Credit Suisse are no longer made, so availability depends on the secondary market.
What proves authenticity?
The serial number struck into the metal, matching the number on the sealed assay card. The card should not be cut open.
Do you buy this product back?
We buy back gold and silver. The buyback price follows the current metal quote and the condition of the product together with its packaging.
