Why this bar
- 5 g of 999.9 fine gold from PAMP, listed in the LBMA Good Delivery system
- the Holy Family in relief on a mirror-like field
- mintage of 10,000, individual serial number
- sleeve with the Three Kings, the heavenly host and the Star of Bethlehem
- a design suited to Christmas, christenings and family anniversaries
Obverse: the nativity scene
PAMP shows the Nativity in its simplest, most intimate form: not a crowded stable, only Mary with the child in her arms and Joseph watching over them. On the mirror-like field the figures stand out clearly.
The scene draws on the Gospel of Luke, which describes the birth in Bethlehem, and on the Gospel of Matthew, where the Magi from the East follow a star. PAMP divides the two narratives: the Holy Family is on the bar, the Three Kings and the Star of Bethlehem on the sleeve.
Manufacture and security features
- Minting and proof-like finish — the relief is struck under die pressure and the field has a shine close to that of collector coins.
- Serial number — on the reverse and on the CertiPAMP card; it links the bar to its certificate.
- CertiPAMP — sealed card with the bar data. Any opening is visible.
- Sleeve — blue and gold, shaped like an arched cathedral window, with the Three Kings, angels and the Star of Bethlehem.
PAMP has operated in Castel San Pietro, canton Ticino, since 1977. The refinery is listed in the LBMA Good Delivery system and is one of the LBMA referee refiners.

What to consider
The religious design and limited mintage mean a higher premium than a classic 5 g Fortuna bar. On resale, the gold price and the condition of the packaging matter most.
The mirror-like surface picks up fingerprints and scratches easily. Keep the bar in its sealed CertiPAMP card and sleeve.
VAT
Fine gold bars of 999.9 purity are exempt from VAT under Article 346 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and, in Poland, Article 122 of the Polish VAT Act.

Frequently asked questions
What does the 5 g The Nativity gold bar show?
The obverse shows the Holy Family: Mary with the newborn Jesus and Joseph watching over them. The reverse carries the PAMP hallmarks and the serial number in a frame of angels.
What is the mintage?
The worldwide mintage is 10,000 bars. Each bar has an individual serial number.
What does proof-like mean?
The field is polished to a mirror-like shine, similar to collector coins. The bar should therefore stay in its CertiPAMP card.
How does it differ from the 5 g Cross of Christianity bar?
Both contain 5 g of 999.9 fine gold in a CertiPAMP card. They differ in design and packaging: here the nativity scene with a Christmas sleeve, there the cross.
Is VAT charged on this bar?
No. Fine gold bars of 999.9 purity are VAT-exempt under Article 346 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and Article 122 of the Polish VAT Act.
