A cast bar instead of a card
From 250 g upwards, Nadir bars are no longer minted and sealed in a card but cast. The metal is poured into a mould and, once it sets, the refinery logo, the inscription 250g Silver, the 999.9 fineness, the Assayer Nadir mark and the serial number are stamped on. A cast surface is less regular than a minted one — small unevenness and matt patches come with the process.
The serial number (a letter and five digits, as on the example piece in the photo) identifies that particular bar, which helps when keeping records of your holdings and when selling.
Why 250 g
A quarter of a kilogram is more than eight ounces of silver in one piece. The premium per gram is below that of the 100 g carded bars, and the bar is still small enough to store easily and sell whole.
Producer
Nadir Metal Rafineri grew out of a precious metals recovery workshop founded in Istanbul in 1967. Its LBMA Good Delivery accreditation covers gold from 2011 and silver from 2012.
What to consider
Silver without airtight packaging tarnishes over time as a layer of silver sulphide forms. This does not change the weight or fineness, but the bar is best stored dry and handled with gloves. Add 23% VAT; the metal value follows the current silver price.

FAQ
Is the Nadir 250 g silver bar cast?
Yes. Nadir bars from 250 g upwards are cast, with the weight, 999.9 fineness, the Assayer Nadir mark and the serial number stamped on the surface.
What is the serial number for?
It identifies that particular bar, which makes record keeping and resale easier. On the example piece in the photo it is a letter followed by five digits.
Why can the bar darken?
Silver reacts with sulphur compounds in the air and forms a silver sulphide layer. It does not change weight or fineness; dry storage and gloves reduce it.
What VAT applies?
The 250 g bar is subject to 23% VAT, already included in the price. Article 122 of the Polish VAT Act exempts gold bullion only, not silver.
